HAPPY BIRTHDAY Cousin Evelyn, knowing that you are now resting with the Father, What a legacy, and a beautiful tribute to a Sophisticated Woman of Class. Thank you family for sharing her life with us, for a life well lived.

  2. I was touched to see how you guys have memorialized your mother. Just recently my family mentioned her and the tremendous impact she had on the education of young African-Americans in Charleston during her lifetime. We also recognized the love and devotion that you, her sons, demonstrated toward her especially as her health began to fail. Please know that she left a legacy that will long be remembered.
We join you in honoring her centennial birthday.

Mrs. Haynes was a pillow of strength in our community. She reached out to help so many of us and for this, we are truly grateful. When I graduated from North Carolina A & T State University in January 1966, a semester earlier than anticipated, I reached out to Mrs. Haynes to assist me in finding employment. Mrs. Haynes was instrumental in helping me to find employment, in the middle of a school year, at W. Gresham Meggett High School on James Island. There I taught History and English for 3 years and today, I am in still in touch with several of my students.
